On 02 November 1917, Arthur James Balfour, the British Foreign Secretary, sent a historic letter to Baron Rothschild, head of the Zionist Federation in Great Britain, expressing the British government’s desire to see Palestine – which had been under Ottoman control for the previous 400 years – become a national homeland (once again) for the Jewish people. This letter is known as the Balfour Declaration. The vision it favored became a reality on 14 May 1948, when Israel was proclaimed a sovereign nation. The creators of the Balfour Books desire to rekindle the zeal that attended the rebirth of this nation, which subsequently has been required to fight for its right to exist until this very day. The world is increasingly being inundated with misinformation and, in many cases, outright lies that have created a worldwide animosity toward this tiny nation. Israel’s right to exist is no different from that of any other modern state, most of which came into existence through times of war and conflict. The growing world-wide animosity toward a nation of less than 8 million people in a space of approximately fifty by three hundred miles is simply irrational. Balfour Books would like to speak truth and common sense into this troubled situation.
